Deion Sanders after Colorado’s blowout loss to Oklahoma State: ‘I really don’t understand’
Deion Sanders’ fourth season as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes began with an upset of Georgia Tech and a blowout of overmatched Weber State.
Since then, the wheels have come off.
The Buffs have lost five in a row, capped by a 57-24 blowout loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday. Colorado led the game at halftime, 24-23. In the second half, the Cowboys outscored the Buffaloes 34-0.
“We’re so disciplined in this and that, and this and that, and everything that we do, but it seems like as soon as we go on the field, we’re not disciplined,” Sanders said after the game, via Brent Schrotenboer of The United States today. “I really don’t understand, because we are disciplined in every area of this program, when it comes to academics, when it comes to being on time, when it comes to wearing the proper uniform, when it comes to just your manners in the building. Everything. But (when) we get on the field at the most critical times, we blow it up.”
The latest loss may have sparked another quarterback change, after Kaneal Sweetwyne replaced Isaac Wilson, who had replaced Julian Lewis in September.
The bottom line is that Colorado hasn’t won a Big 12 road game since 2024. And the Buffaloes are 2-15 against Power Four conferences since December 2024.
