Democrats see new momentum for plans to tax the wealthy
The rich are back on the menu in Washington.
After Democrats’ resounding victory in Tuesday’s midterm elections, proposals for a federal wealth tax and other big tax increases on the wealthy are coming back to life on Capitol Hill after years of dormancy.
Democrats don’t even necessarily care that the president Donald Trump – now promising to be “Mr. Veto” – will always be able to take down anything they pass. Democrats are also expected to welcome a veto fight next year with weakened power. Asset on taxing the rich and improving affordability, the senator said. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), arguing that it will only help the party get the message across to the public.
