Well, “Digger” just dug a hole in Warner Bros. at the end of the line.
When this was announced, it seemed like a breeze. After nearly 20 years directing action films, Tom Cruise will return to acting in a satirical film from Alejandro G. Iñárritu, who won the Best Director Oscar for his two most recent English-language films, “Birdman” (2014) and “The Revenant” (2015). Additionally, “Birdman” won Best Picture and grossed $42,340,598 domestically (over $100 million worldwide), while “The Revenant” earned lead actor Leonardo DiCaprio his Oscar and grossed $184,247,394 domestically (over $500 million worldwide).
