Disney has reportedly laid off a few hundred employees across several departments at the entertainment giant.
Citing a source familiar with the matter, Reuters reported that Disney is laying off a few hundred employees in the company’s human resources and technology departments, marking the latest round of workforce reductions following previous reductions earlier in the year.
Variety was first to report the news.
The moves come amid a leadership transition at Disney, from which Josh D’Amaro took over as CEO in March, as the company faces a period of transformation amid the rise of AI, shrinking box office revenues and intense competition from streaming rivals.

In April, Disney cut about 1,000 positions in the company’s marketing group, which had been reorganized with some job cuts in January, as well as in other areas of the company, including its studio and television divisions, ESPN, product and technology and some corporate functions.
Disney reportedly laid off several hundred employees in July, including at Pixar, ESPN, Disney Studios and Disney Entertainment Television.
The company also offered voluntary early retirement packages to its long-serving executives in August as part of a restructuring.
