Disney TV restructuring targets hundreds of streaming jobs
The television overhaul is part of a broader series of workforce reductions. Earlier this week, Disney eliminated more than 300 positions, concentrated in its human resources and information technology functions. This follows previous rounds that cut about 1,000 marketing jobs in April and several hundred additional positions in July, including cuts at Pixar, National Geographic and ESPN related to the integration of NFL Network assets. Disney‘s legal and global affairs unit, an organization of about 1,000 people, is also facing cutbacks. Horacio Gutierrez, Disney‘s chief legal and global affairs officer, wrote to his team that the unit “will be a much smaller organization than it is today,” pointing to advances in automation as a driving factor.
