Dolly Parton’s estate alleges her nephew used barbed wire to avoid being served | Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton’s estate has alleged that her nephew and former head of security used barbed wire and a no trespassing sign to avoid being served with a lawsuit, according to a court filing confirmed by the Guardian.

The country star’s company filed a lawsuit against her nephew, Bryan Seaver, claiming he threatened and attempted to put his hands on Parton’s estate following her Aug. 25 death. Seaver announced Parton’s death in a video and previously said it was “something Dolly asked me years ago.”

A process server who attempted to deliver lawsuit documents to Seaver saw that his home had “a no trespassing sign in the front yard and barbed wire draped over the railings leading to the front door,” according to the document.

“Mr. Seaver attempted to evade service of process, and this court should not reward that behavior,” the court filing states, also asserting that a process server attempted to serve the process three times.

The matter was first reported by ABC News.

Seaver could not immediately be reached for comment. An attorney listed as representing Parton’s company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Parton’s estate obtained a restraining order against Seaver in September. After Parton’s death, her business manager, Danny Nozell, reportedly fired Seaver from his security position.

Nozell alleged that Seaver engaged in “relentless” threats. A lawsuit alleged: “These were not ordinary workplace disputes or heated remarks; these were deliberate threats from a heavily armed, self-appointed former military contractor security guard. Many (of Parton’s staffers) are now afraid to come to work or have quit altogether because they feel unsafe.”

The judge who granted the restraining order took into account the threats cited in the civil complaint as well as Seaver’s prior allegations that he had “access to weapons, experience with violence and intent to retaliate.”

Under the restraining order, Seaver and his security group, Squadron Augmented Protection Services, are mandated to refrain from being within 1,000 feet of staff, attorneys and associates of She’s Alive, the company founded to manage Parton’s estate. The order would aim to prevent Seaver from interfering with his estate’s business dealings.

Seaver is reportedly accused of telling one of Parton’s lawyers that “I’m a killer.” He is also accused of separately telling Nozell: “I’m literally an international arms dealer and mercenary. All I do is wage war. Everyone should be worried about what I might do.”

According to the litigation filing, a hearing is scheduled for October 20.
