Donald Trump announces he will attend Alabama-Georgia college football game: ‘We love it so much’
President Donald Trump announced Friday that he will attend the Alabama-Georgia game in Tuscaloosa on October 10.
During a stop in Mobile, Alabama, on Friday, Trump announced plans to attend the game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
“I love the people of Alabama…we love Alabama,” Trump said at a midterm campaign rally at the Mitchell Center on the campus of the University of South Alabama. “We like it so much that I’ll be here again next Saturday watching a Georgia-Alabama football game. They say it’ll be a good game. I think so.
“One is ranked No. 2 and the other is No. 7, but that doesn’t matter too much. So let’s say Alabama or Georgia will win this game? I thought you would say that (after the crowd cheered for Alabama).”
During his first term as president, Trump attended the College Football Playoff national championship game between Alabama and Georgia at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta on January 8, 2018. Trump took the field before kickoff, escorted by ROTC members from both schools, then watched the first half from a private suite before leaving at halftime. Alabama won the game 26-23 in overtime to win its fifth of six national championships under Saban.
His first visit to Bryant-Denny Stadium was on November 9, 2019, when he attended Alabama’s game against LSU in Tuscaloosa. Trump was shown on stadium video boards during the game, a highly anticipated No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown that ended with LSU beating Alabama 46-41.
Trump returned on September 28, 2024 for Alabama’s game against Georgia. He was in attendance alongside U.S. Senators Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt, as well as musician Kid Rock and other guests. Alabama won that game 41-34.
