Donald Trump melts down in 449-word speech as MAGA candidate Byron Donalds abandons him
President Donald Trump is collapsing after one of his favorite MAGA candidates sidelined him ahead of the midterm elections.
In a rambling 449-word statement posted to Truth Social, the octogenarian president denied that Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds was distancing himself from Trump.
“Another false story is that a very close friend of mine, a man I supported early on, Byron Donalds, is removing me from his website and campaign materials,” Trump began, before moving on to his favorite topic.
“I won Florida by millions of votes, receiving the highest vote total in history – three times! My numbers are better now than they were during the election,” he wrote, ignoring his plummeting approval ratings.
The president offered no explanation for why Donald’s website was completely revamped with far less Trump.
Screenshots of the website before and after the redesign clearly show that there is significantly less emphasis on supporting Trump, as his popularity among MAGA faithful is less appealing to a broader audience.
Despite photographic evidence to the contrary, Trump insisted these stories were “fake news.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“Two rallies are already scheduled in Florida for Byron and will, as always, be ‘SOLD OUT!’ It was a false story, with no sources, and the only justification is that they want to stop my ever-increasing momentum,” Trump claimed in his attack, published on Truth Social amid a frenzy of posts Saturday morning.
Republicans across the country have quietly removed Trump’s image and endorsement from their materials, as poll after poll shows the public’s deep disappointment with the president.
A recent poll in Florida suggests that Donalds, the incumbent in the state’s 19th District, was considered a front-runner for much of the campaign, but now faces real competition.
His opponent, Democrat David Jolly, is neck and neck with Donald in the race for governor of the president’s adopted state, with Decision Desk headquarters calling the race a “toss-up.”
Another Florida Republican, Rep. María Elvira Salazar, released an ad targeting voters in her majority-Hispanic Miami district, in which she called Trump’s immigration policies “gone too far” from the steps of the White House.
On Tuesday, Donalds posted a message to X saying he was “proud to have the support of President Trump” but did not address removed references to the president or photographs of him being removed from his website.
In fact, he quickly shifted his message away from Trump, telling his supporters: “While everyone is focused on our website, check out our policy proposals to make life more affordable for Floridians. Go to http://Byrondonalds.com/issues to see my policy page.”
His post was quickly hit with a community note, which stated that “Donald’s campaign has removed at least 8 references to Trump from his homepage” and that the candidate “did not mention Trump during his primary victory speech in Orlando, while praising other Republican leaders.”
