Eagles injury update: Saquon Barkley misses entire week of practice – NBC Sports Philadelphia
Saquon Barkley (hamstring) was ruled out for Week 6 against the Panthers after missing the entire week of practice.
But DeVonta Smith (hamstring/toe) and Jonathan Greenard (ankle) are expected to return. Neither have game statuses.
Here are the Eagles game statuses for this game:
Out: RB Saquon Barkley (hamstring), DB Michael Carter (abdomen), OLB Jalyx Hunt (knee/ankle), QB Jalen Hurts (calf), RB Will Shipley (foot)
Doubtful: OLB AJ Epenesa (back)
Questionable: CB Jakorian Bennett (knee), TE Grant Calcaterra (back), G Landon Dickerson (knee), C Drew Kendall (knee), TE Eli Stowers (quad)
Because quarterback Jalen Hurts was already ruled out for this game due to a blood clot in his calf, the Eagles only had two quarterbacks in practice Friday. Tanner McKee will start and Cole Payton will be his backup. The Eagles are also signing quarterback Joe Mixon from the Cowboys’ practice squad, but he was not on the field Friday afternoon.
In addition to Barkley, the following players also did not practice Friday: QB Jalen Hurts (calf), OLB Jalyx Hunt (ankle/knee), DB Michael Carter II, OLB AJ Epenesa (back), RB Will Shipley (foot).
Meanwhile, DeVonta Smith (hamstring) was back on the field with his helmet on Friday and appeared to be practicing again. Smith returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant.
Dontayvion Wicks (hamstring) returned to the training field on Friday after missing Thursday’s session. And C Drew Kendall (knee) practiced again Friday after being limited Thursday; Kendall had a brace on his left knee.
The following players who were limited Thursday practiced again Friday: WR Smith (hamstring), C Kendall (knee), RG Tyler Steen (shoulder), LG Landon Dickerson (knee), OLB Jonathan Greenard (ankle), WR Hollywood Brown (ankle), TE Eli Stowers (quad), TE EJ Jenkins (toe), TE Grant Calcaterra (back), CB Jakorian Bennett (knee).
Dickerson, Stowers, Bennett and Calcaterra all opened their 21-day practice windows earlier this week. They should be activated to the 53-man roster before playing.
