Eagles vs. Bears score, live updates: Case Keenum to start for Chicago against Tyson Bagent with Caleb Williams injured; Zach Ertz joins Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears will face off on “Monday Night Football” to close out Week 3 in prime time, with Chicago facing an uphill battle without starting quarterback Caleb Williams.
After a hot start to the season where the Bears earned a stunning 59-37 victory over the Carolina Panthers, the momentum came to a screeching halt as Williams suffered a hamstring injury and was forced out in Week 2. Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent suffered a concussion in relief and has since cleared concussion protocol, but after missing part of practice, veteran Case Keenum reportedly got the start against the Eagles on Monday evening.

Philadelphia also hasn’t had the most inspiring start to its 2026 season, despite starting 2-0. Their two wins were both close, emerging with a mere combined point differential of +6 points against the Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders – two teams that combined for just eight wins total all last season.
Week 2 wasn’t smooth sailing for the Eagles either, losing tight end Dallas Goedert to a knee injury, while All-Pro Saquon Barkley was out with a stinger. Barkley was not listed on the injury report and logged two full practices Friday and Saturday, but Goedert is expected to miss time with an MCL injury. The Eagles made a surprising move to bring back tight end Zach Ertz, 35, signing him to the practice squad amid Goedert’s injury.

With Dallas Goedert out, the Eagles signed their former tight end, Zach Ertz. Although the 35-year-old was a contributor during his time in Washington that ended last season, the fact that he received this call is an indictment on how many people have been given weapons the Eagles think they have right now.
Hurts was pushed to keep throwing late last week, in a game where the Titans had quick possessions. This week, playing in a fourth quarter where it’s more about keeping the chains moving and not risking anything on the field, reaching 200 passing yards could be difficult.

When the Bears scored 59 points in the first game, Caleb Williams got much of the credit. And he played well. But that didn’t take into account that Swift had 124 rushing yards and Monangai added 100. They combined for four rushing touchdowns. The Bears offense didn’t do much last week and Swift lost a critical fumble near the goal line, but they need their running backs to rebound in a big way this week.
It’s quite simple; when you’re just a 38-year-old journeyman at quarterback, taking his first regular-season snaps in three years: the Bears need a lot of Swift and Monangai. The Eagles haven’t been great against the run yet this season, allowing 4.2 yards per carry (19th in the NFL) and the Bears need to exploit that to win Monday night.

With Caleb Williams out for Monday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, all eyes were initially on backup Tyson Bagent, who replaced Williams in Week 2 but was unable to complete the comeback.
Instead, it will be veteran Case Keenum who gets the start for the Bears on “Monday Night Football,” according to NFL Network.
Although Bagent was the logical choice to take over the starting role after Williams’ injury, the backup was dealing with a concussion that prevented him from practicing earlier in the week. Bagent cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol on Saturday and was able to participate in a full practice, opening the door for him to potentially play the game against the Eagles.
But the Bears will instead rely on Keenum, who has been practicing and preparing all week to be the team’s starter. This will be his first NFL start since the end of the 2023 season, when he earned two late-season starts with the Houston Texans. He went 1-1 in those two games, throwing one touchdown against three interceptions.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially elevated Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz from the practice squad to the game day roster ahead of “Monday Night Football,” the team announced. He is now set to make his official return to the field with the Eagles, who he last played for during the 2021 season before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals.
The 35-year-old veteran entered free agency this offseason after two seasons with the Washington Commanders. He saw his 2025 campaign end prematurely in Week 14 after suffering a torn ACL, finishing the year with a 50-504-4 stat line as the team’s starting tight end. Ertz practiced with the team for the first time on Thursday, so it’s unclear what kind of role fans should expect right off the bat.
