Elon Musk blows fuses following calls for potential investigations against him: ‘I’ll find out’
Tech billionaire Elon Musk appeared concerned Wednesday about growing calls for lawmakers to investigate him if Democrats flip the House or Senate in the midterms, reacting on social media to the reports and criticism with varying levels of anger.
He seemed particularly troubled by a new Politico report titled “Capitol Agenda: Dem Gavels Are Coming for Elon Musk,” about House Democrats in their alleged quest to investigate Musk during his tenure as head of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.
“Live by the sword, die by the sword,” Musk wrote on X on Wednesday when sharing the article. “Those who argue with me need to understand that I will find out who is really pulling the strings and come after them, not just their puppets…”
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO led DOGE under President Donald Trump in a stated effort to cut wasteful government spending, only to later dismantle many key agencies, including the Department of Education and USAID, that administered civilian foreign aid.
Musk, whose companies receive billions in federal contracts, has also been accused of using DOGE to gut regulatory agencies investigating his companies. The X’s owner seemed furious Wednesday at the idea, according to tech reporter Kara Swisher.
He commented on an excerpt of his remarks: “Looks like Swisher really wants to go to jail. »
Swisher argued during an appearance on The Bulwark’s “Receipts” podcast that Musk would already be in jail if former Vice President Kamala Harris won the 2024 election, warning that “if Donald Trump loses the House and the Senate, I would be worried…no matter how rich he is.”
She added: “There were all these agencies, some of which he stabbed and killed in DOGE, many of which were investigating him. He stopped half a dozen investigations into his different companies. So they’re going to start investigating again. You think he’s not on the list?”
Swisher continued: “He’s at the top of that list. Donald Trump is obviously at the top, and his family… but Elon Musk is here for it… He knows what’s coming. He’s not stupid. Of all the things that can be said about him, he has a great sense of destiny.”
She concluded: “And I think it’s happening for him. And very hard.”

Musk claimed that the military version of Starlink used in the region is solely owned and operated by the US government, and that any “limits on speed or usage” are decided by the military “and ultimately by POTUS”, meaning Trump.
Although it remains to be seen whether the world’s richest man will face any real investigations after the midterm elections, Musk apparently responded to the Journal article on Wednesday, writing on X: “Some fools still think the inheritance news is real. Unbelievable.”
The article’s co-author, Alex Ward, responded on X, writing: “Sir, is this your comment on our story?
