Elon Musk had ambitious goals for the Cybertruck, the electric pick-up launched by Tesla Inc. in 2023. Three years later, the targets have been exceeded and demand remains well below the ambitious targets.
How many Cybertrucks are sold?
Musk’s goal of selling 250,000 Cybertrucks per year has not yet been reached, and it appears he won’t hit that figure over the vehicle’s lifespan, barring a significant price change or sudden demand. And, even though Tesla beat analysts’ delivery estimates for the third quarter, the Cybertruck total was far from exciting.
Tesla doesn’t break down its sales data by individual vehicle, leaving each vehicle’s data somewhat mysterious.
Don’t miss:
Third-quarter delivery data shows the total for the Model 3 and Model Y combined, then a total for “other models.” This second category has been a catch-all for years to cover vehicles that are not the main models. Tesla also previously released data for the Model S and Model X combined.
With the end of production of the Model S and Model X, Tesla’s other models are now the Cybertruck, Semi and Cybercab. The category could also include some of the latest models for the S and X, according to Electrek. Tesla has not said whether it counts Cybercabs in its deliveries, as they all remain company property.
According to Tesla data, the most Cybertrucks the company could have sold in the third quarter is 8,295. That’s the grand total listed under other models for the quarter. According to Electrek, this figure is down 48% year-on-year and is the lowest total for the other category since the second quarter of 2021.

Electrek estimates that Tesla sold between 7,000 and 8,000 Cybertrucks in the third quarter based on the total, with the category also including a few hundred Model S/Model Xs and a few hundred Tesla Semis.
This would result in an annualized total of 28,000 to 32,000 Cybertrucks sold. At the high end, that would be about 13% of Musk’s goal of 250,000 annual sales.
Tesla’s second-quarter investor presentation indicated a maximum total capacity of 125,000 Cybertrucks that could be produced at the company’s Texas facilities, a total well above current demand.
