England v Croatia player ratings: Who was the best player on the pitch?
Jordan Pickford: A very good decision and save when he rushed in and won the ball at Ivan Perisic’s feet early on. Not tested but was lucky not to concede Mateo Kovacic’s incredible miss. 6
Jarell Quansah: Surprisingly picked at right-back over Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the Bayer Leverkusen defender is doing exactly what manager Thomas Tuchel wants. A powerful runner, a good defender and his ability on the ball is underrated – he showed it with a quality assist to Gordon. 8
Ezri Konsa: Konsa didn’t defend much as England pushed Croatia back, but it was a calm and assured performance from the defender. 7
Marc Guéhi: The centre-back had to take risky positions as England pressed man for man all over the pitch. 7
Lewis Room: The Newcastle left-back looks to be a great addition to England’s back four. Hall provides pace forward and also underneath, coming into midfield to receive the ball. 7
Elliot Anderson: Anderson has been excellent throughout this international break and produced another mature performance. The Manchester City midfielder is a crucial part of the midfield and has set up Kane for England’s fifth. 8
Alex Scott: The Bournemouth midfielder was handed his first England start and put in a truly confident performance. Scott always looked to win the ball back and didn’t just try to keep it safe as England dominated. 7
Jude Bellingham: The best player on the pitch. Bellingham produced a fine pass to put Kane through for the first goal, scored England’s second and assisted Saka for England’s fourth. He was a truly world-class player and his quality was too much for Croatia throughout the match. 9
Bukayo Saka: The winger has scored twice and appears to be building a good partnership with Quansah on the England right-hand side. Saka could have scored a hat-trick but missed a big chance in the second half. 8
Antoine Gordon: He plays with a lot of confidence and continues to show that he has moved to another level in recent months. Assisted Bellingham and scored for England’s fourth consecutive match. 9
Harry Kane: Just an elite finisher and his goal put England firmly in control. The captain looked full of energy, pressing forward and showed off his passing range as he enjoyed Gordon and Bellingham feeding him. Also scored England’s fifth goal. 9
