Evaluating the blockbuster Jeffery Simmons NFL trade between the Titans and Bears
The NFL trade deadline of November 10 is fast approaching, and we’ve seen several big moves this week alone. Another massive domino fell Thursday, when the Tennessee Titans agreed to send star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Titans will receive first- and fourth-round picks in 2027, as well as a first-round pick in 2028 in exchange for Simmons and a fifth-round pick in 2028.
Although we’ve already seen notable players like Marvin Harrison Jr., Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner traded during the season, this deal marks the first true blockbuster of the fall. The Titans get a very large haul, while Chicago gets a four-time Pro Bowler who is one of the best frontcourt defenders in the game.
The trade raises questions about the future of the 1-6 Titans while clarifying the Bears’ intentions to pursue the Super Bowl in 2026. Let’s take a closer look at the trade, Simmons’ prospects and what the deal means for defenders, the Bears and the Titans.
