
Evanston news: Driver killed in rollover car crash at Sherman Avenue and Simpson Street near Northwestern University campus
EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) — A driver was killed in a north suburban rollover crash near Northwestern University Friday evening, Evanston police said.
Police said Evanston officers and firefighters responded to Simpson Street and Sherman Avenue just before 6:30 p.m.

There, first responders found an SUV on its side, police said. The driver, a 56-year-old Evanston man, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The man’s name was not immediately released and the cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
Police said the crash did not appear to be related to the Northwestern football game or traffic associated with the event.
Sherman Avenue was closed between Foster Street and Gaffield Place while emergency personnel and investigators worked the scene until approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Major Accident Assistance Team responded to assist with the investigation.
Authorities did not immediately provide additional information.
