Exclusive: Grand Theft Auto VI Features Tropical Storms and Hurricanes
For our exclusive Grand Theft Auto VI cover story, Rockstar Games details the game’s advanced weather systems. Designed to simulate the tropical climate of real Florida, the game’s setting, Leonida, will feature not only sunny weather, but also many of the state’s most severe weather phenomena.
Rockstar confirms that the game features dynamic cloudscapes that sweep across Leonida, creating a wide spectrum of weather conditions from clear skies to cloudy days. The game also features localized storms, meaning you can occupy a dry, sunny area and spot storms in the distance where it’s actually raining. Drive there after the storm has passed and you’ll be able to tell it just rained by the lingering puddles and other wet surfaces. In good lighting conditions, you may even see rainbows after another shower.
Florida is known for its seasonal tropical storms and hurricanes; the same is true in Leonida from Grand Theft Auto VI. While we don’t know how often these larger, more violent storms occur or how they affect gameplay and storytelling, it’s exciting to know that they will be present.
