EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn (WABC) — A NYCHA worker was killed after being struck by a falling tree in Brooklyn on Saturday.
This happened at 700 Euclid Ave. in East New York.
Police sources told Eyewitness News that a 56-year-old man was walking through a parking lot when he was struck by a falling tree.
NYCHA confirmed in a statement that the victim was one of its employees.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and extend our deepest condolences to his family and the NYCHA community,” the statement said.
He was transported to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident occurred during the nor’easter, which brought devastating wind gusts, but it is unclear whether the wind caused the tree to fall.
Also in Brooklyn, at least four people were injured by a falling tree around 5:30 p.m. at East 14thStreet and Avenue S at Kelly Park Playground in the Homecrest section.
FDNY officials say four people suffered minor injuries and were taken to Maimonides.
