Rockstar Games gave us a new one and a half minute trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 yesterday, and there’s everything: stuff on the history of the army, a hot shower sex sceneJason throwing a guy off a boat, the guy who called “Grand Theft Auto”, and, above all, a very blurry camera lens.
Wait, wait, I thought the internet was joking that the trailer looked blurry. Turns out no, some people are quite genuinely concerned about the smudged camera lens aesthetic featured in the latest trailer for GTA6to the point that some even accuse Rockstar Games of “degrading” the graphics before launch.
Is this an upgrade or downgrade?

Obviously, what we see in the latest trailer is an image processing effect. Real people will know that this effect is commonly called Gaussian blur, which, without wanting to brag, I knew by heart. My film degree is really paying off at this point.

Look, I’m pretty sure Rockstar Games knows better than to feed everyone a bunch of fake trailers for what might be the most anticipated game of all time. You don’t have to cancel your digital pre-orders yet.
Furthermore, as many have already done underlines online, it’s probably just a setting that players can turn on and off. Red Dead Redemption II had a bunch of filters like this, so don’t worry, the marketing department just wanted to be a little artistic this time. Just consider yourself lucky that they didn’t use full Yorgos Lanthimos mode on you and put a fisheye lens filter on it instead (did I mention I already have a degree in film?).
