Five dead in trade strikes in Kyiv and Moscow, Russia hits second bridge | Russia-Ukraine War

The Russian attack on kyiv’s northern bridge is the second such strike against a key bridge in two days.

At least five people have been killed in a series of long-range strikes carried out by kyiv and Moscow.

Russia attacked a Liberian-flagged ship in Ukraine’s Odessa region, killing one person and injuring three others, Ukraine’s Sea Ports Authority said in a statement on Telegram on Saturday. Twelve other crew members were safely evacuated from the ship. Three were injured.

Russia has effectively blockaded Ukraine’s Black Sea ports – once a key global source of food exports – by attacking civilian ships carrying grain and steel, dealing a major blow to Ukraine’s economy.

Two people are believed to have been killed in a Ukrainian strike on the Russian-occupied Ukrainian region of Luhansk, according to the Moscow-installed governor.

In the occupied Zaporizhia region, Russian authorities said one person was killed and ten others injured in a Ukrainian drone attack.

Russian media also reported that one person was killed in a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Belgorod region, located just across the border from Ukraine.

Elsewhere, a Russian attack on kyiv’s north bridge injured two people. This is the second bridge attacked by Russia in the Ukrainian capital in the space of two days.

Russia warns diplomats and foreigners

Also on Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a new warning to diplomats and foreigners in the Ukrainian capital, urging them to leave the city or risk being harmed.

Many foreign embassies still operate in Kyiv.

Russia’s all-out war against Ukraine is in its fifth year and shows no signs of slowing down.

Russian gains on the battlefield slowed to a near record low, with Ukrainian counterattacks, including a continued advance around the town of Lyman to the east, blunting Russian territorial gains elsewhere.

Russia has increased its attacks on civilian infrastructure in recent months, including increasing use of long-range jet-powered attack drones, which move faster and are harder to shoot down.

Ukraine has also launched significant long-range strikes, notably targeting Russian oil infrastructure and military-industrial installations located deep within Russian territory.
