FLUSHING, Queens (WABC)– A group of armed suspects held a man at gunpoint and attacked him with a crowbar at his Queens home.

The victim, named Chris, tells Eyewitness News he was at his Flushing home with a friend when they heard a noise at the front door. He says things then went from zero to a hundred in a fraction of a second.

“At one point I decided to play dead,” Chris said.

According to police, it happened early Sunday morning, around 2:30 p.m. The suspects entered the home located on Horace Harding Highway. Chris says they beat him and stole jewelry worth thousands of dollars.

“You see masked people in your house; there’s really no conversation, I just started dismantling immediately,” the 45-year-old said.

Chris, who spoke exclusively to Eyewitness News, remembers four men rushing him towards the front door.

“I was hit hard in the face…hit with a crowbar,” he said.

A police officer was seen at the scene carrying what looked like a crowbar.

“They tied my hands behind my back, my feet and threw my coat over my face,” adds Chris.

That’s when he said he was playing dead.

“They took my Rolex and started taking away my stuff,” he said.

He says the chain he wore is worth about $65,000.

The suspects did not realize Chris’ friend was upstairs.

“She hid in a corner and called the police…this girl saved my life,” he said.

Three suspects fled on foot. Police arrested a 17-year-old and removed his mask. Chris said he didn’t recognize him.

Currently, Chris is on probation for DWI and is at odds with his ex-girlfriend – both have protective orders in place.

“Someone definitely set me up, 100 percent. The house goes on sale tomorrow. I’m leaving,” Chris said.

Because Chris has a criminal record, he is not allowed to have a gun. He tells Eyewitness News that if he had a gun, it would have ended very differently.
