Focus Features has released a new trailer for Robert Eggers Werwulfand while it’s hard to shake the feeling that this film is becoming more and more like Tim Burton with all the fantasy replaced by belligerent terror, it’s hard to deny the primal punch that Eggers packed into it. A montage of fierce images shows Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s “Man” in various stages of transformation while Lily-Rose Depp, as “Woman,” looks on in horror, and through it all, Willem Dafoe’s distorted voice crackles across all the desolate, dark images. Truly, a thunderous trailer that assaults the senses.

And for those who want more interactivity with their Werwulf experience – and considering how off-putting and profane it’s been so far, how could you not – Focus launched DevourethAllMankynde.coman “alternate reality game” synchronized with each full moon cosmically set between September and November, culminating with “a mysterious prize for those who complete all three moons on each full moon”. As for what it means to “complete all three moons on each full moon,” Focus explains: “Fans will have to search for a hidden ‘sign’ on various digital platforms and decipher it on the site to complete the moon. The catch is that you only have 24 hours each full moon to search for the sign before it disappears, so you’ll have to work fast to find it.” Regardless, Focus needs an email address for this mysterious ritual, as this is the case for most of the dark and fearsome things we do online.
