Want to be among the first to own Ford’s new EV pickup? You can now sign up for a pre-order invitation for the upcoming $30,000 Ford Fathom.

Ford Fathom pre-order invitations go live

Although pre-orders for the Fathom won’t officially open until early 2027, Ford is now inviting interested buyers to sign up for a pre-order invitation and become one of the first to own its all-new electric pickup.

The Fathom will start at $28,350 for the standard battery model, about half the price of the F-150 Lightning, Ford’s first attempt at an electric pickup truck. Even with the $1,595 destination charge, they’ll still start under $30,000.

As the first model based on its new Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform, Ford promises the Fathom will be a step-change from its first-generation electric vehicles.

Ford has yet to announce range figures, towing capacity and other key specs, but it did reveal some details about the upcoming EV pickup.

For one thing, Ford has previously said the Fathom will offer more passenger space than a Toyota RAV4, and that doesn’t include the trunk or bed of the truck. The company also claims it will cost less to own over five years than a three-year-old used Tesla Model Y.

The interior will feature a “large touchscreen” and will be the first to integrate Apple Maps directly into the navigation system.

Other standard features include a digital key, Ford app remote, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

All Ford Fathom models will be BlueCruise compatible for hands-free highway driving and offer two-way charging capability.

It will use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries to reduce vehicle costs and weight, while also opening up interior space.

The cobalt- and nickel-free LFP battery serves as the vehicle’s floor. As a result, the low center of gravity improves handling and creates a quieter, more spacious interior.

The low center of gravity, instant torque and “obsessive chassis engineering” will make driving fun, Ford promises.

With even more downforce, Ford said the Fathom would have a target 0-60 mph time as quick as an EcoBoost Mustang.

Ford describes the Fathom as a “four-door midsize electric pickup,” but prototypes spotted testing appear to be about the size of a Maverick, which is generally considered a compact truck. Again, we’ll have to wait until closer to launch to find out the final dimensions.

We also know that Ford’s next EV pickup will have a NACS port after a few test mules were captured on a Tesla Supercharger over the summer.

You can sign up for your pre-order invitation on the Ford website here to receive updates and be among the first in line.

Ford will officially open Fathom pre-orders in early 2027. The first Fathom prototypes are expected to roll off the production line at its 3 million square foot Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP) in 2027, with deliveries expected to begin later in the year.

CEO Jim Farley admitted during the Automotive News Congress 2026 a few weeks ago: “It’s going to be quite an effort to launch this at scale, cost and time.”

A Ford spokesperson confirmed with Electrekhowever, that “We previously said: “Fathom will launch in 2027” – and there is no change to that. »

We should learn more about Ford’s next EV pickup soon. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
