Former Fox News Meteorologist Janice Dean ‘Sick’ of ‘Mean Girl’ Megyn Kelly ‘Belittling People’
Former Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean tried to stay silent about her ex-friend Megyn Kelly’s on-air criticism, but when she attacked the MS community, she couldn’t stay silent any longer, she tells Page Six.
“I’m sick and tired of her using her platform to put people down… She goes to the lowest denominator and constantly puts women down,” Dean, who has battled multiple sclerosis for 23 years, told Page Six.
Kelly mentioned Dean on her podcast when she mocked Christina Applegate for revealing she was misdiagnosed with the disease.
“She’s crying now because I guess she can’t be the face of this disease anymore and, as she says, she’s back to square one. She’s made a cottage industry out of talking about her MS,” Kelly said of Applegate on her SiriusXM show.
Kelly’s comment caused Dean to address X and call her a “bad girl.” “She was one of my closest friends… Her comments on (Applegate) are disgusting,” she wrote.
She further told us that what Kelly said was “so heartless for a woman who is misdiagnosed and doesn’t know where to turn.”
“(MS) is a very misunderstood disease. We don’t have a cure. It takes away everything when you don’t feel well. It took away my job,” Dean said through tears.
Dean added that she is grateful to celebrities like Applegate who speak out about their battles with illness and other illnesses.
“I want to say more in defense of people who are putting their reputations and their jobs on the line to say, ‘I’m vulnerable and I’m sick’… It’s the loneliest place you can be — to hear (Applegate) cry and see Megyn Kelly use that against her is disgusting,” she said.
Kelly has not responded to Dean or commented on the backlash she received when speaking about Applegate and her misdiagnosis. His former Fox News friend Eric Bolling, however, called Dean’s post on X “fucking disgraceful.”
“Janice, I worked with both of you at Fox. I saw firsthand how Megyn supported you and helped elevate your career. To see you publicly trash her and now slap ‘#meangirl’ is shameful…You should be ashamed of this,” Bolling wrote.
“Why was he fired from Fox?” » Dean asked rhetorically. “I’ve been hearing stories about this guy for many years. Bolling being the one to come to his rescue is not the superhero you want,” she told us. (Bolling parted ways with Fox News in 2017 following an investigation into whether he sent inappropriate text messages to colleagues, which he denied).
Meanwhile, she has a theory about why Kelly is spewing vitriol in the age of independent hosting.
“She doesn’t have any close friends. She’s isolated herself to living in Connecticut and doesn’t go out into the world. It’s very isolating and she doesn’t have anyone to watch over her,” Dean said.
Dean, who has been in and out of hospital in recent weeks, said she would comment further when she was well enough. “I don’t want to go down the path that she took. I don’t want to fight in the gutter, but I want to raise awareness,” she said.
Kelly has not commented.
