Fox News has hired former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt as an on-air contributor, the conservative cable news network announced Monday.

Leavitt, 29, served as President Donald Trump’s top spokeswoman and one of the administration’s main public faces until her resignation in late August. She was the youngest White House press secretary in American history.

“Karoline’s first-hand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape,” Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, said in a statement. “We look forward to her providing our audiences with authentic and accurate insight across all Fox News Media platforms.”

She will begin her new role as “commentator and analysis” on November 1, Fox said.

Leavitt, who gave birth to her second child in May, left the Trump administration at the end of August after working as a press secretary since the start of the president’s second term. She left the West Wing to “spend more time with her beautiful young children and family,” Trump said in a social media post on August 12.

“Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors and an influential voice within the Republican Party as we work to defy history and win the midterm elections for good,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

Leavitt was part of Trump’s inner circle at the White House and during the 2024 presidential race, serving as the campaign’s national press secretary. She was known for her fierce defense of the president’s record and occasional confrontations with political reporters in the James S. Brady press briefing room.

Leavitt herself was on the ballot in the 2022 midterm elections, running unsuccessfully for a House seat in her home state of New Hampshire. She lost to Democratic incumbent Rep. Chris Pappas.

In a statement, Leavitt said she looked forward “to bringing my unique perspective from my experience as White House press secretary, along with the same energy and candor that challenged (sic) my tenure, to Fox’s millions of viewers across their many platforms.”

Leavitt is not the first former Trump press secretary to work at Fox News.

Kayleigh McEnany, who served in the role from April 2020 until the last day of Trump’s first term, joined Fox in 2021 and now co-hosts the daytime talk show “Outnumbered” as well as the weekend series “Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany.”
