Four major American channels, including Fox News, announce that they will no longer monitor images of Donald Trump, in support of CNN
In support of CNN, the four other American channels constituting the presidential “pool”, namely CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox News, announced on Monday September 21 that they were ceasing to participate in this system allowing television monitoring of Donald Trump’s movements, according to a joint press release from the five groups.
“It is vital for the general public to receive correct and independent information about the government. No administration should restrict a news organization’s access because it disagrees with its coverage.”wrote the five channels of the “pool” in a press release.
Earlier today, American television channels CNN, MS NOW and online media Politico had announced that they had informed the Trump administration of their decision to file a complaint in the name of press freedom, so that their journalists regain access to the White House, of which they have been deprived for three days.
“This morning, we notified the government that we are today initiating legal proceedings to defend our rights under the First Amendment and the principle that the government does not decide what the press publishes”the media outlets jointly said in a statement on X.
Shortly after this declaration, Donald Trump reacted by denying leading an offensive against the “free press”. In a message published on his network, Truth Social, he said he attacked “FALSE NEWS, something that has spread like a cancer within our beloved United States of America”. “This poses a threat to our national security and must be stopped, NOW!” »he wrote.
The American president announced on Friday a ban “with immediate effect”of these media, accusing them of writing “false stories all the time”. “Other media propagating false information will follow”had threatened the American president on his network, Truth Social, in a spectacular escalation of his war against the media.
