
Frozen berry recall expands at Walmart and Trader Joe’s after E. coli outbreak coli

A Chilean fruit supplier has expanded the recall of its frozen organic berries, sold in Walmart and Trader Joe’s stores across the United States.
The products, manufactured by Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur SA, were linked to an outbreak of E. coli that infected 17 people and hospitalized six in Florida and Georgia, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). No deaths have been reported.
The company updated its recall Friday to include additional lots of its Great Value Frozen Organic Triple Berry Blend and Great Value Frozen Organic Blueberries.

Another batch of Trader Joe’s Frozen Organic Berry Mix was also added to the recall, according to a bulletin from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recalled Great Value products – bearing universal product numbers 7874211226 and 7874211213 – were shipped to Walmart stores in 30 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and West Virginia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

The recalled Trader Joe’s berries were on store shelves in 26 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
Consumers who still have the recalled products in their freezer are asked to throw them away or return them to the store where they were purchased.

The Florida Department of Health first notified the CDC of the E. coli outbreak. coli in July 2026.
On September 21, the CDC closed the investigation into the outbreak.
Walmart and Trader Joe’s did not immediately respond to FOX Business’ requests for comment.
