Fully playable version of Portal prequel F-Stop leaked
Leakers have recreated a playable version of the canceled game Portal prequel F-Stop. Most of the assets came from the massive 12 terabyte leak that occurred last August. This did not include the game’s source code or map data, but the latter items were apparently posted to the Valve Cut Content Discord this week, allowing a near-complete build to be pieced together.
Some dialogues and elements of F-Stop finally found their way to Portal 2. But this differs radically from the main line Portal games in that it is built around a camera mechanic that allows you to capture an object by taking its picture and place it elsewhere using the resulting Polaroid-like photos. It’s no different Viewfinder in this way.
The game is short, with videos showing its entire campaign, lasting less than an hour. This is not very surprising, however. F-Stop was developed as part of “Directed Design Experiments”, a three-month period in 2007 during which Valve split into five teams to create new video game experiences.
