Soon to be acquired by Paramount, Warner Bros. has just come out with a big tentpole: Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest is scheduled to hit theaters on June 1, 2029.
Owen Harris directs the screenplay from Oscar-nominated scribe Beau Willimon.
No information on casting or start of production yet.

The film would center on, you guessed it, Aegon I, the first lord of the Seven Kingdoms, who fathered the Targaryen dynasty – the royal family at the heart of the entire franchise. Aegon I the Conqueror founded and is the first king of the dynasty and united Westeros with his dragons Balerion, Vhagar and Meraxes.
This would be the first time Aegon I would be depicted on screen. This feature is an extension of that of George RR Martin. A song of ice and fire.
Besides the main HBO franchise, there are two spinoff series based on Martin’s fantasy novels: Dragon House And A knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

There is not much dated for 2029 by the majors, and Game of Thrones is the first to arrive on the first weekend of June. Aside from the myriad of untitled placeholders that year, the only films whose titles are clearly dated for that year are those from Disney/Pixar. Coco 2 on November 21 and Disney/20th Studios’ Avatar 4 on December 21.
Paramount will inherit at least 40 theatrical releases from Warner Bros on the schedule dated October 2 of this year through 2029. This release represents 56% of what will currently be 71 feature films combined.
