Gemini Call for Me could tell your mother that you are late
Google could expand its “Call for Me” AI feature beyond business calls so you can use it to message friends and family. Android Authority reports finding a “Gemini Calling” intro screen in an APK teardown with examples like “Call Mom and tell her I’ll be 15 minutes late” and “Call John and ask if he’s coming over for dinner.”
Based on these examples, even with this expansion, Gemini would likely be limited to basic SMS-style calls. While Google’s AI can’t automate a full catch-up phone call with your loved ones, it could send quick messages to people who prefer a phone call, often miss texts, or even still have a landline.
Android Authority also said to have found “granular permissions” for Gemini actions in individual apps, including what appear to be settings for phone call permissions. These settings would allow users to choose which app features they want to allow Gemini to access, potentially giving users the ability to opt out of receiving incoming robocalls from Gemini. However, as Android Authority Notes, Google may also not publish this extension or the granular settings for the Gemini app.
