The curtain has fallen on the OBJ Broadway revival.
Via NFL Network, the Giants will release wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
It’s no surprise. Beckham barely played. In week one, Beckham had 11 snaps and zero targets. In Week 2, Beckham had three snaps and zero targets. In Week 3, Beckham had six snaps, one target and no catches.
Beckham was on the roster bubble when the Giants went from 90 players to 53. And even though he made the team, he barely played. He seemed content with it. Whatever the reason, the Giants decided to move on.
It’s also possible the Giants will announce they’ll release him so someone will offer them something for his contract, which pays the league minimum salary. Even if they only get a conditional seventh-round pick from a team like the Rams or 49ers (both of whom could use help at the position), it will be something more than nothing at all.
If there is no trade, Beckham will become a free agent again.
