
Google announces Gemini 4, says it’s so good only ‘trusted cyber defenders’ can have it right now
Google today revealed its next cutting-edge AI model, which it calls Gemini 4 Argon. The new model delivers “cutting-edge performance in complex workflows in real-world software engineering, enterprise knowledge work such as law and finance, and cybersecurity defense,” according to Chief AI Architect and Senior Vice President of Google DeepMind Koray Kavukcuoglu. But the company first limits access to a “set of trusted cyber defenders,” and Kavukcuoglu says Google is “actively engaged in the U.S. government’s voluntary process for access to pre-release models as we gradually expand access.”
Kavukcuoglu says Gemini 4 Argon is already powering Google’s “internal workflows”, highlighting how the model has helped with tasks such as large-scale code base migrations.
