Googlebook’s marketing campaign starts with Henry Cavill and his mustache

Ahead of the launch next month, Google is launching the marketing campaign for Googlebooks with Henry Cavill.
The company today announced its partnership with actor and tech enthusiast Henry Cavill to “help showcase the potential of this next-generation laptop.” Google is specifically referring to “unique software experiences like Continue on Phone Sync, Rambler Text-to-Speech, Antigravity, and more.”
Cavill, who is a big PC gamer, uses an Android phone. He previously used Pixel phones, the last one appearing to be the Pixel 5, while he was recently spotted with a Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Google leans heavily on this: “We recently met with Henry to discuss his own creative ambitions and the conversation quickly turned to the need for a laptop that could keep up with him and work seamlessly with his Android phone.”
The premise of this marketing campaign is that Henry Cavill will use a Google book to “build a video game”. He was seen using the HP Googlebook 14 today.
“When Google contacted me and explained what they were doing with Googlebook and all of its new built-in tools, I was intrigued. So I asked for the opportunity to play with it before its release. After being involved and spending time with their team, I think this has the potential to be the start of something pretty special. Time and technology advance at a breakneck pace, and everything Google tries to do with it, has the whispers of the next generation. “

This passion project will kick off in November, with @Android on Instagram providing updates, while there is now a dedicated page: googlebook.google/henry-cavill.
More broadly, Google’s massive advertising for Google Books will be key to its success and that’s certainly a start. Hopefully this will be followed by traditional online and television campaigns.
