Halle Berry’s ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, filed for a temporary restraining order against the actress on Thursday, alleging she abused their 12-year-old son, Maceo. Martinez allegedly claimed in court documents that Berry and their son were involved in a physical altercation at her home on September 26, during which she strangled him. He accused Berry of causing “emotional and mental distress due to the physical abuse inflicted on our minor child, Maceo.” Martinez included screenshots of a text conversation in which he and Berry appear to discuss the altercation.
In response to the restraining order, Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, called Martinez’s filing “totally baseless and deliberately misleading” in a statement shared with People. “Halle is accustomed to this kind of outrageous behavior from Mr. Martinez and, while she is deeply saddened, she will not allow this to deter her from fighting for Maceo’s best interests and providing him with the love and support he needs,” Beck added.
Martinez’s attorney, Patrick Baghdaserians, also shared a statement with People, saying Martinez has “tried to do the best he can. Obviously, it’s always difficult when you’re in a co-parenting relationship. Our main concern right now is just one real issue, and that is protecting this amazing child.”
Martinez requested sole custody of Maceo. The former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2023, shared joint custody until now.
