Disney is developing a fifth film in its popular “Halloweentown” series.
Although plot details are not yet known, the new film is written by Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn based on the characters of Paul Bernbaum, who wrote the first “Halloweentown” film in 1998. Casting is also not confirmed, although several actors from the original films have already expressed interest in reprising their roles. If greenlit, the new film will air on Disney Channel and Disney+.
Houghton wrote the 2026 comedy horror film “Forbidden Fruits,” which starred Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain and Gabrielle Union and was distributed by IFC.
Koehn was one of the writers on HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” reboot, which ran for two seasons from 2021 to 2023. He was also part of a group of writers on “The Mad Whale,” a 2017 film produced by James Franco that also had multiple directors.
