Hayden Panettiere’s daughter Kaya, 11, appears in court with her father Wladimir Klitschko over the late star’s estate
Hayden Panettiere’s 11-year-old daughter Kaya appeared in court Thursday alongside her father, Wladimir Klitschko.
Kaya appeared remotely to confirm her identity during a conservatorship hearing for the late actress’ estate, People reported. Kaya, dressed in a white t-shirt, was on camera and spoke to the judge alongside her father.
She was “gentle and composed” in court, according to the media outlet.
Klitschko was granted temporary guardianship of his ex-fiancée’s estate during Thursday’s hearing, People also reported. Additionally, his attorney requested that he have the authority to direct law enforcement to investigate the “recovery of suspected misappropriated property” by a non-family member.
On Tuesday, Klitschko, 50, filed court papers seeking a law enforcement investigation into his claims that Panettiere’s assets were pawned after her death.
He said he believed “a non-close family member” of the “Heroes” actress had pawned some of her belongings, including jewelry, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
The former professional boxer claimed the pawnbroker refused to provide details of the items unless contacted by law enforcement, adding that he feared they could be sold to third parties without intervention from authorities.
In court documents he filed last month and obtained by Page Six, Klitschko wrote that Kaya — who lives with him in Ukraine — “is entitled to the entirety” of his mother’s assets, adding that it was “urgent and essential” that he be named guardian of Panettiere’s estate so that he “can receive, manage and hold” Kaya’s assets on her behalf.
Sources close to Panettiere’s family told TMZ they support the filing, saying, “Wlad is a great father and we are grateful.”
Panettere and Klitschko began dating in 2009 and got engaged in 2013. They welcomed Kaya in December 2014.
The two continued to date on and off, but split for good in 2018. He was granted full custody of Kaya that same year.
In September 2022, Panetierre appeared on Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk” and said signing the papers to give Klitschko full custody of Kaya was “very upsetting.”
She also called it the “worst” and “most heartbreaking thing” she’s ever had to do.
The “Nashville” alum died in August of an accidental overdose. She was 36 years old.
She died from the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine, the Greenville County coroner’s office confirmed to Page Six last month.
