Hegseth says Trump bow needed for national defense
Two Cabinet officials told a federal judge Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s planned triumphal arch should be built because it would help defend Washington against drones and other threats.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin detailed the Ark’s potential security features as part of legal documents submitted by the administration ahead of a hearing Friday. Both officials said Washington faces “ever-evolving” threats and that Trump’s planned 250-foot-tall arch — positioned at the southern end of the Arlington Memorial Bridge — would provide a perch to coordinate officials’ security response, deploy snipers and take other steps to defend the region.
