Hole in Neanderthal shoulder bone linked to ancient wooden spear
This discovery echoes an earlier discovery in the same cave, in 1957. These remains were of another Neanderthal who lived more recently, around 50,000 years ago. Their ribs bore evidence of a partially healed wound, which archaeologists believe was likely caused by a stone-tipped spear.
