Durangowhich stars Cooper Hoffman and Kathryn Newton, has landed a series order at Hulu.
This comes seven months after streamer Disney ordered a pilot for the project, which has just been released Y: The Last Man showrunner Eliza Clark.
Additionally, Merritt Wever, Mason Gooding and Abbey Lee joined the cast, while The bear creator Chris Storer became executive producer.
Hoffman plays Mikey, a ski-loving city slicker looking for a buzz. Newton plays Bunny, a homeschooled runaway who works as a greasy spoon waitress. Together, they make an avalanche of bad decisions and fall in love while fleeing cops, criminals and Mikey’s wife in pursuit of their own American dream.
Wever plays Joni, a sharp and self-effacing local detective who is deeply unimpressed by almost everything. After twenty years of doing everything right at a resort where the biggest case is usually a stolen ski pass, Joni is given the most interesting thing of her entire career. Gooding plays Miles, a young detective with a quick wit and sharper mouth. Intelligent and implacably good-natured, he is the perfect partner for his colleague Joni. Lee plays Irina, Mikey’s Russian wife. She is obsessed with American pop culture and seeks American citizenship. She has Mikey in the palm of her hand.
Durangowhich is produced by 20th Television and Media Res, is written by Clark, who executive produces alongside Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg and Christina Malach and American Light & Luminaire storekeeper Josh Senior and Tyson Bidner. Jesse Peretz directed and produced the pilot.
It was one of several pilots ordered by Hulu over the past twelve months. In November, the streamer ordered a pilot for the YA drama Foster Dadestarring Matt Bomer and written by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran. He abandoned this project in May.
In March, it also ordered a pilot for Lexa comedy from Sean Clements of Severance and Paul Simms of What We Do In The Shadows. Deadline understands that the project is about to enter production.
In February, she ordered a pilot for the Ryan Coogler film The X Files reboot starring Danielle Deadwyler and this high-profile project was picked up to series earlier this week.
