‘Hunger Games’ star exposes Hollywood’s dark side after stalled acting career
Leven Rambin speaks candidly about the harsh realities of Hollywood.
The “Hunger Games” actress opened up about her struggles with the entertainment industry in an emotional TikTok video, admitting she feels like a “sad failed actress” after years of chasing her childhood dream.
“I have a deep sadness — that dream I had when I was a little girl has gotten too big or just hasn’t worked out or is disappearing,” Rambin said as he lay in bed.
“All the audacity and frustration masks a deep heartbreak because it’s just not what I thought it would be at this point.”
The actress, who played Glimmer in the first “Hunger Games” film in 2012, explained that she struggled with feeling overlooked despite her lengthy resume.
“You kind of have to re-evaluate your life at some point and be willing to let go,” she continued. “It’s really hard to face that or experience that. It’s very scary.”
Rambin, 36, added that she would rather mourn the career she envisioned than continue to experience “the constant heartbreak of feeling worthless, unwanted, unchosen and afraid.”
However, the “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” star later clarified that she wasn’t necessarily walking away from Hollywood.
“I think people are basically witnessing my mid-30s existential crises in real time,” she told Just Jared, explaining that her dry humor sometimes blurs the lines between “satire and sincerity.”
“But no, I won’t stop playing. At least not today. Ask me again next week,” she joked.
Fans flooded his comments with support, although one pointed out that the struggling actors waiting at tables would hardly consider his lengthy credits a failure.
“I respect that,” Rambin responded. “For me it’s a failure because it didn’t go the way I planned and now I’m done.”
Beyond “The Hunger Games,” Rambin has appeared in “Grey’s Anatomy,” “True Detective,” “One Tree Hill” and “Fire Country.”
In July, she announced her departure from “Fire Country” after season 4 to focus on starting a family.
The same month, she revealed she nearly died after a surgeon accidentally nicked her aorta during a laparoscopic procedure linked to endometriosis and fertility.
Rambin, who married photographer Dawson Smith in July 2025, said the frightening ordeal left her facing a long recovery.
