JERUSALEM — A growing number of Israeli military’s battlefield-saving measures have emerged during the Iranian regime’s multi-front war against the Jewish state, and these new technologies are also helping the United States.
Fox News Digital was briefed on the latest information and data on Israel’s success rate in its attempt to save soldiers’ lives from an Israeli Defense Force (IDF) battlefield medicine doctor.
Israel’s grueling ground offensive against the US-designated terrorist movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, which began in October 2023, following the organization’s invasion of Israel on October 7, introduced cutting-edge medical tactics to the battlefield.

Hamas has brutally murdered more than 1,200 people in southern Israel, including more than 40 Americans, and kidnapped 251 people.
An IDF spokesperson outlined the new advances, saying: “The IDF medical corps has adapted its operational capabilities during the war, including casualty evacuation, innovative medical technologies, and providing care under fire in difficult terrain. »
The IDF medical specialist told Fox News Digital that during “the Second Lebanon War (in 2006 against the Lebanon-based terrorist group Hezbollah), it took 15 to 20 minutes for an advanced life support system to reach a victim. Today, an advanced life support system can reach a victim immediately or within four minutes.”

Placing “medical personnel on the battlefield, including a doctor in each company, allows the IDF to make critical decisions early in the care process,” the IDF medical specialist said.
The use of helicopters to transport seriously injured soldiers to medical facilities, as seen in video footage provided to Fox News Digital, plays a critical role in preventing deaths.
The second advance is, according to the IDF medical specialist, “a rapid evacuation”, which means “that we can quickly evacuate the wounded to Israeli hospitals”.

Since 2013, “the focus has been on using blood products to stop bleeding,” the IDF medical specialist said. He added that the Israeli army is the first medical organization to “use plasma at the point of injury instead of salt and water.”
He noted that the IDF had established a sophisticated rapid-fire system to provide blood to wounded soldiers. A telling example: Blood was placed on the backs of first responders in coolers to stop the bleeding and control the hemorrhage. The method “saved a significant number” of injured soldiers.
An additional improvement in life-saving first-response medicine in the war zone involves an “advanced learning and data collection system that transmits data over technical networks so that every provider can see patient data.”
The IDF specialist said that “each relevant doctor in the chain can view patient data. This system has given very good results.”

The mortality rate is the best index to quantify care, the IDF medical specialist said. The results were spectacular. According to IDF data, the mortality rate during the 2006 war against Hezbollah was 15%, compared to 7.1% in 2023.
The IDF medical specialist said Israel’s military medical apparatus relied on the 2012 U.S. baseline study, “Battlefield Death (2001-2011): Implications for the Future of Combat Casualty Care,” which covered U.S. medical assistance during the Iraq War.

Dr. Marc Siegel, senior medical analyst for Fox News, told Fox News Digital: “Battlefield advances based on the latest technologies developed in Israel, including surgical techniques as well as the latest burn treatment NexoBrid, not only help today’s wounded, but fuel medical and surgical advancements around the world. »
Siegel’s latest book, “Angels Among Us: How God’s Messengers Play a Role in Healing,” features a chapter on a medical rescue during the Gaza War.
The U.S. military and the IDF have cooperated for years to advance battlefield medicine.

According to an April 2026 U.S. military report, “Israel Defense Force Medical Lessons Learned,” U.S. military authors explained in the 78-page study the urgent need to absorb Israel’s advances since the start of the Iron Swords of War campaign in 2023.
The U.S. Army wrote: “In the areas of operational health and force readiness, the IDF has implemented proactive public health measures – including robust biosurveillance, forward-positioned preventative medicine teams, and strict food safety protocols – to mitigate health threats and maintain operational readiness. »
The US military warned: “Despite Israel’s preparations, it has had to undergo a painful process of contact transformation that the United States now has the opportunity to avoid. The time for preparation is now. Simply possessing clinical and tactical skills is not enough.”
