Of the 6,000 people who crossed the border from Gaza and infiltrated Israel on October 7, 4,000 were killed, an Israeli source said. The Jerusalem Post Monday, citing data shared by Maj.-Gen. Shlomi Binder, head of IDF military intelligence, during a security cabinet meeting Sunday evening.

“There are 2,000 left and we will take care of every one of them,” Binder said.

In the latest strike on Sunday, the IDF announced it had killed Saqr Nabil Musa Qaisi, a Hamas Nukhba terrorist who was posing as the director of a humanitarian aid organization called Deniz Feneri.

Earlier Friday, the army killed Ibrahim Mustafa Suleiman Abu Oweimer, commander of the Nukhba platoon of Hamas’ military wing and one of the terrorists who infiltrated Israel on October 7.

Over the weekend, the army killed two Islamic Jihad rocket commanders and reportedly attempted to kill Ali al-Amoudi, Yahya Sinwar’s successor as head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military has not confirmed that Amoudi was killed in the attack, with Israeli media publishing conflicting reports about his status.

THE Job learned in July that the army had killed at least 420 Hamas terrorists since the establishment of the 2025 ceasefire, while it has continued to target Hamas commanders since then.

According to these estimates, from October 2025 to July 2026, Hamas would have killed dozens or more of its own population since the ceasefire in order to regain control of all areas of the Gaza Strip where the Palestinian population lives.

The UN estimates that around 1,000 Gazans were killed during this period, meaning that since the ceasefire the percentage of Gazans killed by the IDF is likely less than 50% civilians.

Defense Ministry says 1,318 members of Israeli security forces have been killed since October 7

Since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023, 1,318 members of the Israeli security forces have fallen in the conflict, according to data released Sunday by the Department of Families, Commemoration and Heritage of the Defense Ministry.

This figure includes fallen personnel from the IDF, Israeli police, Shin Bet (Israeli security agency), fire and rescue services, security coordinators and local response team members.

These figures represent deaths on all fronts, including in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon and the West Bank.

More than 7,150 people have been officially recognized as relatives who have lost someone in service since the start of the war, including 2,143 bereaved parents, 355 widows and 880 orphans. 3,772 people lost a brother or sister during the war.

Despite the ceasefire that came into effect in the Gaza Strip on October 10, 2025, a number of Israeli soldiers have been killed in incidents along the Yellow Line which demarcates the buffer zone inside the Strip.

Yonah Jeremy Bob, Amir Bohbot and Jerusalem Post staff contributed to this report.
