Ilhan Omar’s real birth name revealed by sources in fraud investigation

Ilhan Omar is not the Minnesota congresswoman’s “real name,” Fox News Digital has learned.
Her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, according to two people familiar with the ongoing investigation into the MP of Somali origin, including a police source.
And if it’s proven in court that Omar lived “her entire life under an alias,” a former federal immigration judge in Minnesota told Fox News Digital that every form she filled out could be “called into question.”
On Wednesday, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro filed a motion to prevent the federal search warrant for the congresswoman’s home from being unsealed, which was requested by several media outlets. The motion says the federal government has not yet finished executing the search warrant and it should not yet be unsealed.

A motion filed by U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro refers to “Deputy Member llhan Nur Said Elmi, aka Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.” (U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia)
“Before the Court are three requests to unseal documents and ex parte proceedings related to a federal search warrant for the personal residence in the District of Columbia of Congresswoman Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, aka Ilhan Abdullahi Omar…” the motion begins.
“That’s not his real name,” a source said when asked why the motion used the language “alias Ilhan Adbullahi Omar.”
Fox News Digital first reported, amid the search of the lawmaker’s Washington, D.C., residence, that federal investigators were looking into whether she or her father committed fraud while filing immigration paperwork.
Investigators obtained the elected official’s DNA and seized his personal phone and passport during the predawn October 12 raid.

Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, was questioned by federal investigators last week as part of the investigation, Fox News Digital exclusively reported.
Conservative personality Will Chamberlain was the first to post the motion on X, speculating that the “DOJ believes (Omar) is present in the United States under an assumed identity.”
Fox News Digital has learned from multiple sources close to the investigation that Omar is not the congresswoman’s birth name.

REP. ILHAN OMAR’S IMMIGRATION STORY FACES NEW REVIEW AS FEDERAL INVESTIGATORS ASSOCIATE PARENTS
Omar has publicly confirmed that she does not have a birth certificate.
In an official US House biography, her birthday is October 14, 1982 and indicates that she was born in Mogadishu, Somalia. She says she came to the United States with her family as a refugee fleeing war-torn Somalia in 1995, when she was a minor.
Omar has not been charged with any crime and the documents presented by prosecutors are only allegations.
Lawyers for the embattled congresswoman did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Nathan Hansen, a former federal immigration judge in Minnesota, listed how the supposed name change could impact the lawsuit against the congresswoman.
“You think about all the types of paperwork someone like her could have filed,” he said. “There would be federal student loan and student aid applications, perhaps federal housing-related applications, perhaps public assistance applications, passport applications, passport and driver’s license information, Real ID information (and) voting information.”

He said if someone had lived their entire life under an alias, many criminal charges could be filed.
“Sometimes they may say it’s a wire fraud charge, but they always add that charge,” Hansen said. “And it’s pretty broad. But, you know, a lot of these documents are sworn under penalty of perjury.”
“If it’s not a real legal name, there is a legal basis that every type of government form that she has filled out over her entire existence could be called into question,” Hansen said.

ILHAN OMAR SHOULD BE TAKEN, EXPORTED IF CITIZENSHIP FRAUD IS PROVEN, SAYS TOP HOUSE REPUBLICAN
The representative for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives has long been the subject of allegations that she married her brother for immigration purposes.
In 2009, she legally married a man named Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. The couple separated in 2017. The following year, she was elected to Congress. In 2020, she married her third husband, political consultant Tim Mynett.
In Omar’s first public interview since her home was raided, she spoke with MS NOW’s Chris Hayes. During this interview, she once again denied the allegations, calling them “crazy.”

“You’re not related to him?” asked Hayes. “Isn’t there some strange kernel of truth…?”
“Not to my knowledge,” she replied.
Following the raid, Omar accused President Donald Trump and his administration of targeting her politically.

“This Trump DHS raid is an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the militarization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies,” she said in a statement on X.

“For a decade, Donald Trump has relentlessly targeted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar with incendiary rhetoric, repeatedly putting a target on her back,” the post continues. “Now these attacks have escalated into an unnecessary federal raid. The congresswoman did nothing wrong. No president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies.”
