In Ukraine, Russian strikes leave at least 18 dead and more than 120 injured

It’s another dark day for Ukrainian civilians. At least 18 people were killed and more than 120 injured on Friday, August 21, in Russian strikes, including a drone attack in broad daylight on a shopping center in Kryvyï Rig, which President Volodymyr Zelensky described as “despicable”.
According to the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, where Kryvyï Rig is located, Oleksandr Ganja, drones targeted this shopping center, causing fires in the stores inside and the death of 14 people, while 121 others were injured, according to a new report.
Volodymyr Zelensky denounced on
The head of the municipal military administration, Oleksandr Vilkoul, clarified that it was the “largest commercial complex in the city”.
“The attack drones struck in two waves – half an hour after the first strike and the fire, there was a second strike targeting the rescue services,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
“Such attacks are nothing short of terrorist acts. And the world must respond accordingly – with real pressure on the aggressor,” he added.

Volodymyr Zelensky claimed to have discussed “the ongoing Russian strikes and the numerous victims among the civilian population” on the telephone with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
Four and a half years after the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, long-range strikes are increasing on both sides of the front, targeting a growing number of civilian installations such as logistics warehouses and causing more and more casualties.
