President Donald Trump’s announcement to build a steel mill in Lee County could transform the economy of the rural southeast Iowa community.
Hailed Monday, September 28 by the president as “the largest steelworks in American history,” the project will cost approximately $15 billion, according to the White House, and will require 6,000 construction workers over the next four years.
