iPhone Duo buyers will receive a special surprise at US Apple Stores, says Gurman

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iPhone Duo buyers who purchase their device at an Apple Store in the United States will be treated to a nice little surprise when they turn it on for the first time. Here are the details.
A nice surprise in store for in-store shoppers
When Apple launches the iPhone Duo on October 23, some customers who purchase the device at an Apple Store in the United States will be able to personalize the initial setup screen with their name.
According to Gurman, “Apple stores will have a system to personalize the startup of the device,” allowing the iPhone Duo to display a greeting containing their name when it is first powered on. Gurman says the feature will be exclusive to the iPhone Duo and will support English and Spanish.
It’s unclear how Apple will implement this feature, or whether it will build on Presto, the system Apple Stores already use to wirelessly update iPhones without removing them from their boxes.
First reported by Gurman in 2023, Presto allows Apple store employees to turn on an iPhone, install software updates, and turn it off again, all while keeping the device sealed in its packaging.
Returning to the iPhone Duo, it will be available for pre-order starting Friday, October 16, with shipping and in-store availability starting October 23.
Apple recently announced that customers will be able to get ready for iPhone Duo pre-orders starting October 12, and you can learn more about it here.
