Ja’Kobi Jackson undergoes surgery for Lisfranc injury, hopes to return before Michigan game
Ja’Kobi Jackson underwent surgery for a Lisfranc injury in his foot, but hopes to be back during Ohio State’s rivalry game against Michigan, a source told Eleven Warriors.
The Ohio State running back was injured in the fourth quarter of the Buckeyes’ win over Maryland two weeks ago.
After missing last week’s game against Indiana, Jackson will be sidelined for several more games as he continues to recover from his injury, but the Buckeyes hope to have him back in time for their regular season finale and the playoffs.
When asked about Jackson’s injury Tuesday, Ohio State offensive coordinator Arthur Smith said he did not know the timetable for Jackson’s return.
“We’ll just have to see that,” Smith said.
A seventh-year senior who transferred from Florida to Ohio State this offseason, Jackson is the Buckeyes’ second-leading rusher for the season, totaling 354 yards and six touchdowns on 59 carries in the Buckeyes’ first six games of the year before his injury.
With Jackson sidelined against Indiana, Bo Jackson played a career-high 52 snaps against the Hoosiers, totaling 56 yards on 18 attempts, while Isaiah West and Legend Bey also mixed in to play at running back.
Until Ja’Kobi returns, Bo will likely continue to play the majority of snaps at RB, although it wouldn’t be surprising to see an uptick in action for West and/or Bey over the next few games as the Buckeyes look to keep Bo healthy for the latter part of the season.
