Jalen Hurts placed on injured reserve after Eagles quarterback diagnosed with blood clot | Philadelphia Eagles
Quarterback Jalen Hurts was placed on injured reserve Saturday, two days after the Philadelphia Eagles revealed he had a blood clot in his calf.
Hurts was initially ruled out Thursday for the Eagles’ next game against Carolina. The Eagles said at the time that Hurts was injured when he took a cleat to his calf during their game against the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 4.
Hurts informed the team’s medical staff of the injury after practice on October 8. Super Bowl MVP LIX returned to practice the next day before the team left for London to face Jacksonville.
“As an abundance of caution, an ultrasound was performed on Saturday, October 10 after the team flew to London and was examined,” the Eagles said in a statement released Thursday.
“The ultrasound revealed a superficial blood clot. Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were significant and that Jalen was safe to play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and flight back to Philadelphia.”
