JD Vance hits back at Obama over Cheesecake Factory search: ‘super elitist’
Vice President JD Vance fired back at Barack Obama on Thursday after the former president compared the current appearance of the White House to that of a cheesecake factory run by Saddam Hussein.
“I didn’t quite get it. I like the Cheesecake Factory,” Vance said of Obama’s stunt at a Texas town hall event hosted by Fox News’ Jesse Watters.
“I think it’s a good example of how Obama, without even trying to be, can’t help but be super elitist,” the vice president argued.
“Remember, this is the guy who said people who wanted good jobs clung to their guns and their religion, as if God and the Second Amendment were something to be ashamed of,” he added.
In attempting to mock President Trump, Vance said Obama “showed how separated Democrats are from real Americans.”
Obama sparked discord Saturday while fighting for Democrats in Ohio, accusing Trump of spending more time sprucing up the White House than helping Americans.
“I mean, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he seems very focused on home renovations,” Obama said. “It should be on HGTV.”
“He makes the White House look like Saddam Hussein opened a cheesecake factory.”
Watters noted that Obama apparently walked back his criticism at a rally in Atlanta on Wednesday, where he insisted that as a “father of two daughters,” the Cheesecake Factory was “my jam for about a decade.”
“See, that’s exactly the point, though…he realized, ‘Oh, a lot of people that we want to vote for us actually like the Cheesecake Factory,'” Vance explained.
The vice president added that the establishment is “the weirdest restaurant to hate.”
“The menu is about 75 pages, so there’s something for everyone,” he joked.
“I just don’t understand. Like, there are restaurants I can imagine hitting — not the Cheesecake Factory,” Vance said. “Leave us alone, Barack!” »
Watters joked that the network’s next town hall would be held at a Cheesecake Factory.
