Jennifer Lawrence denies launching hair care brand Mes for money
Jennifer Lawrence officially entered the celebrity beauty game with the launch of her hair care brand Mes, but the Oscar winner’s career change isn’t a reaction to Hollywood instability. Speaking to The Cut, Lawrence said that if she was worried about the money Hollywood could make, then “a smarter exit plan would be to sign on to a big franchise.”
“Starting a new business to get rich is like jumping off a cruise ship and landing on a door,” the actor added.
Mes, according to The Cut, is a “bioengineered hair care” company that “sells three products: a repair mask, a restyling serum and a volumizing mist. (Lawrence) has teamed up with an MIT-trained scientist to develop new formulas that they say will change your hair in ways that nothing else on the market can. »
Lawrence explained that moving from acting to the hair care industry seemed like a natural extension of her interests as a performer, because “there’s an undeniable energetic thing that happens when you create things, whether it’s a film or a product. I get the same electric buzz that I get from building a character. It’s like, ‘Well, I have to follow this because it’s the same animal.'”
So why is Lawrence the most nervous when launching a beauty brand? She told The Cut that she hopes people stick with the products and don’t get impatient.
“If you make a texturizing spray, everyone knows what to expect,” Lawrence explained. “These are brand new products, so I worry that someone will have a first impression without really taking the time to understand how it works with their hair.”
Lawrence added of waiting to see the reception: “I imagine it will be like when a movie comes out, where there has to be this release of tension. I’ll try to be zen about it. But I’ll probably just have wine with breakfast.”
