Jennifer Lawrence to star in Zach Cregger’s sci-fi thriller The Flood.
Warner Bros.’ The New Line division is behind the film, having taken over the project following Netflix’s turnaround earlier this year. New Line is the studio that made Cregger’s Oscar-winning horror film Weapons.
Cregger wrote the screenplay and will direct and produce the new thriller, based on his original idea and scheduled for theatrical release on August 11, 2028.
With Cregger resident Evil film now released and a success, this is the filmmaker’s next film to be released. Production is expected to start in Europe in the first months of 2027.
Amblin Entertainment is producing alongside frequent Cregger collaborators Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment.
Lawrence’s casting is a real coup – for any studio, really – as the actress is known for being quite demanding. Most recently, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in a postpartum drama.
